It still has to reach past 48 inches, because the frost line takes no interest in the soil. The waterfront and the bluffs at Manomet and White Horse Beach face open Cape Cod Bay with nothing in front of them, so those take the exposed figure and an anodized finish for the salt, while a site out toward Long Pond and the state forest is sheltered pine and a different quote altogether. Town Square and the streets above the harbour are the local historic district, widened again in 2024, and the Historic District Commission has its own say on anything inside that line.
