How much does a flagpole and installation cost?

A 20 foot external halyard commercial pole starts around $842 after our 15 percent discount. A 20 foot internal halyard pole is roughly $3,239, and a 40 foot internal halyard pole runs about $8,100. Installation depends on the foundation, access and soil, and is quoted with the pole.

What height flagpole do I need?

Match the building or go slightly taller. A two story building suits a 20 to 25 foot pole, a three story building suits 30 feet. Figured at roughly 10 feet per building floor.

Why does wind speed matter when choosing a flagpole?

Your local code sets a design wind speed for your address under ASCE 7, and a flagpole must hold that speed with a flag flying, which loads the shaft far harder than a bare pole. That figure decides the butt diameter and the wall thickness.

What is the difference between an internal and external halyard?

An external halyard runs the rope outside the pole with an exposed cleat and costs less. An internal halyard conceals the rope inside the shaft behind a locking access door with a geared winch, resists vandalism, and is what architects specify for schools and municipal buildings.

Can you replace a flagpole that broke in a storm?

Usually yes, and often on the existing foundation if the ground sleeve is sound. A pole that broke in a storm may have been undersized for its wind zone, so we confirm the correct shaft before replacing it.

Your pole can go wherever you want it. These are just the things worth thinking about first, because they are awkward to change once the concrete is in.

Room for the flag to fly. Roughly a flag's length clear of the house, trees and any canopy.
Nothing overhead. Power lines and big branches decide the spot for us, for safety.

How much does a flagpole cost, put up?

A 20 ft pole for a house starts at $448 for the light one, or around $842 for the heavy-wall pole we put near water. A 30 ft pole with the rope hidden inside is about $4,216. Putting it up depends on the digging and the access, so we price that for your spot and send you one number for both.

My pole snapped. Can you just replace it?

Usually, and often using the concrete that is already there. Send a photo of the base and we will tell you. If it broke in a storm it may have been too thin for your area, so we will check that before quoting a replacement.

What size flag goes on it?

Eder publishes a size for every pole height, and it is on every pole we show you. A 25 ft pole takes a 4' x 6' flag, a 30 ft takes 5' x 8'. Going bigger pulls harder than the pole is built for and can void the warranty.

How long does it take?

The pole itself is the longer wait, and it depends on the height and colour. Putting it up is normally one visit once it arrives.
