Our installers are very experienced, some with over 20 years of setting flagpoles. They size the foundation, set the pole plumb and fly your flag before they leave, and you deal with us from the first call: one company, one price, (350) 305-3524 (FLAG).
20 to 25 ft for oceanfront residential and small commercial, because height multiplies the wind load fast here. Hotels and municipal buildings run 30 to 35 ft on Hurricane-series shafts.
Direct Atlantic oceanfront. The most demanding flagpole environment in Maryland by a wide margin. We cover Ocean City and the Worcester County area, including the Boardwalk, the Inlet, Coastal Highway, North Ocean City, West Ocean City, Fenwick Island and Assateague.
Wind here. Ocean City sits in an Atlantic oceanfront area, which Eder’s published wind map puts in the 110 mph zone. Eder rates every pole for a wind speed with the flag flying, matched to that map, so the zone decides how wide and how thick the pole has to be. We check it against your address before we quote. Do not buy a standard pole for Ocean City. Between Eder's 110 mph zone, the highest in the state, and constant salt spray, a shaft that would last thirty years in Frederick has a hard life here. We quote heavy-wall or Hurricane-series shafts, anodized finishes, and stainless hardware as the default, not the upgrade. We also size the foundation for sandy soil, which needs a wider footing than clay does for the same pole. Anything oceanfront gets treated as fully exposed.
Most of the people who call us from Ocean City are oceanfront hotels and condominiums, restaurants, municipal and beach patrol facilities, marinas and rental properties.
Ocean City is a barrier island, and the inlet at its south end was cut by the 1933 hurricane, which says most of what you need to know about the wind here. It is the highest wind figure in Maryland on Eder’s map, the ground is sand over a high water table, and salt reaches everything. Oceanfront hotels and condos get heavy-wall or Hurricane-series poles with an anodized finish and stainless hardware, never satin with plated fittings.
The Town of Ocean City runs its own planning and building office, separate from Worcester County on the mainland in West Ocean City and Berlin. Much of the town is rental property with owners away for months at a time, so an internal halyard (rope inside the pole, locked at the base) saves a lot of cut ropes and missing flags.
In Ocean City, a 110 mph wind zone, a 25 ft flagpole rated for that wind starts at about $2,940 for the pole (Eder ECXA25), and a 30 ft one at about $4,050 (Eder ECA30), in satin aluminum. Installation, the concrete foundation and the flag depend on your site, and we price all of it on one quote, usually the same day. Every pole and price is on our flagpoles page.
