How Much Does a Flagpole Cost in 2026?

Real flagpole prices by height, what makes one pole cost more than another, and what to budget for installation, the foundation and the flag.

Flagpole prices range from under a thousand dollars to tens of thousands, and most price lists do not tell you why. This guide uses real 2026 list prices for American-made Eder Flag aluminum poles, the same prices on our flagpoles page, so you can see what a pole for your height and wind actually costs.

The short answer

Those are pole-only list prices in satin aluminum. Installation, the concrete foundation and the flag are extra, and are covered below.

Flagpole prices by height

The biggest thing that moves the price at any height is the wind rating: how strong a wind the pole can take with the flag flying. Most of the country sits in a 90 mph zone on Eder’s wind map; coastal and hurricane areas run 110 to 150 mph. A pole for a windier site needs a wider base and a thicker wall, and costs more.

HeightLowest priceRated for 90 mphRated for 120 mph+

25 ft$1,160$2,450$2,940
30 ft$1,800$3,300$4,330

Eder Flag 2026 list prices, pole only, satin aluminum, external halyard, buying one pole. Prices checked October 2026. The “lowest price” pole may be rated for less than 90 mph with the flag flying; it suits sheltered sites only.

What makes one flagpole cost more than another

1. Height

Every extra five feet means a longer, wider and heavier shaft, and above about 35 ft the price climbs quickly. Choose the height from the building and the view from the road, not the other way round. Our 2026 flagpole buying guide has a height chart.

2. Wind rating

Compare the two middle columns in the table above: on the same 30 ft pole, meeting a 120 mph zone instead of 90 mph adds about $1,000. Buying a pole rated below your local wind is the one saving that is never worth it.

3. Internal or external halyard

An internal halyard hides the rope inside the pole behind a locking door, so nobody can lower the flag without a key. It costs more: a 30 ft internal halyard pole rated for 90 mph starts at about $4,960, against $3,300 with the rope outside. See internal vs external halyard.

4. Finish

Satin aluminum is the least expensive. Clear, bronze and black anodized finishes cost more, roughly 20 to 40 percent on most poles.

5. Shipping length and options

Poles that ship in two sections add 10 percent. A second rope and cleat, to fly two flags separately, adds $64.

Installation and the foundation

Installation is priced for the site, because the work changes so much from one place to another. What goes into it:

We quote the pole, the foundation, the installation and the flag together, so there is one number to compare.

The flag

The right flag size follows the pole height, and a bigger flag costs more. Some 2026 list prices for American-made Eder nylon U.S. flags:

Pole heightFlag sizeNylon flag
20 ft3′ x 5′$55
25 ft4′ x 6′$68
30 ft5′ x 8′$107
35 ft6′ x 10′$149
40 to 45 ft8′ x 12′$277
50 ft10′ x 15′$405
60 ft12′ x 18′$542
80 ft20′ x 30′$1,290

Heavy polyester (Poly-Max) flags cost more and last longer in constant strong wind and salt air. See what size flag do I need.

What it costs to keep it flying

Budget for a new flag when the old one frays, which can be once or twice a year on a busy commercial pole, and for a new rope (halyard) every year or two. Replacing a rope before it snaps is far cheaper than fixing it after: once it breaks at the top, someone has to get up the pole.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a 25 ft flagpole cost?

A 25 ft aluminum flagpole starts at about $1,160 for the pole. Rated for a 90 mph wind zone, about $2,450; rated for 120 mph, about $2,940. Installation and the flag are extra.

How much does a 30 ft flagpole cost?

A 30 ft aluminum flagpole starts at about $1,800 for the pole. Rated for a 90 mph wind zone, about $3,300; with an internal halyard, about $4,960.

Why are some flagpoles so much cheaper online?

Very low prices usually mean a thin-walled sectional kit with no published flag-flying wind rating. They suit a sheltered yard. A commercial-grade pole has a thicker wall, a wider base and a published rating.

Does installation cost more than the pole?

On smaller poles the installation and foundation can cost as much as the pole itself. On tall commercial poles the pole is usually the larger part.
